Morrison beats Nixon to fill Knoblauch’s council seat

By

Larry Morrison is the newest member of Whitehall City Council, far outdistancing his Ward 3 opponent, David Nixon, in the Nov. 5 general election.

According to unofficial results from the Franklin County Board of Elections, Morrison received 221 votes, or 61 percent, and Nixon received 141 votes, or 39 percent.

Morrison will succeed Leo Knoblauch as the city’s Ward 3 councilman as Knoblauch was precluded from seeking re-election because of term limits.

Morrison, 64, said he wants to contribute to the current direction of council and is “proud of this city.”

Ward 1 Councilman Chris Rodriguez, Ward 2 Councilman Wes Kantor and Ward 4 Councilman Van Gregg were unopposed.
