* Off-Trail Exploration, 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ranger Station. Explore remote areas of the park on a six-mile hike.

Blendon Woods Metro Park

* Family Puppet Show, 2 p.m. Saturday at the Nature Center. Discover, along with the puppets, how animals prepare for winter.

Highbanks Metro Park

9466 U.S. 23 N., Lewis Center

* Homeschoolers: Rocks Rock, 10 a.m. Monday at the Nature Center. Take a short hike to the ravine to look for rock formation, and learn more about rocks and geology with indoor activities.

Inniswood Metro Gardens

940 Hempstead Road, Westerville

* Artist of the Month, view the art work of members of the Central Ohio Watercolor Society throughout December. Closed Mondays.

Scioto Audubon Metro Park

400 W. Whittier St., Columbus

* Pre-K Storytime, 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, 505 W. Whittier St. Bring little ones for a nature-inspired story or two in the library, and visit the forest playroom.

Slate Run Living Historical Farm

1375 state Route 674 N., Canal Winchester

* Indoor Amusements, 1 to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Try out some indoor games, toys and puzzles.

* Sweet Treats, 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Watch the farm ladies prepare candy and other treats typical in the 1880s. They'll share tastes and recipes.
