* Flying Squirrels, 8 p.m. Saturday at the Ranger Station. Learn about these elusive squirrels and look for them on a short walk.

Blacklick Woods Metro Park

6975 E. Livingston Ave., Reynoldsburg

* Hike and Heat Campfire, 8 p.m. Friday at the Ash Grove Picnic Area. Take a 1.5-mile walk and enjoy a campfire.

* Sunday in the Swamp, 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Nature Center. Scoop up slimy swimmers from the buttonbush swamp.

Blendon Woods Metro Park

4265 state Route 161 E., Westerville

* Just for Kids: Milkweed and Monarchs, 10 a.m. Saturday at the Nature Center. Learn how you can plant a garden to attract monarchs butterflies and other wildlife. Bring a styrofoam egg carton to start your own milkweed and other plants. For ages 6-12.

* Canine Caper, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Nature Center. Take your dog on a 1.2-mile walk on the Goldenrod Trail.

Glacier Ridge Metro Park

* Woodcock Watch, 7:45 p.m. Friday at the bulletin board near the main entrance picnic area. Take a one-mile hike and scan the fields for the woodcock's aerial dance.

Highbanks Metro Park

9466 U.S. 23 N., Lewis Center

* Metro Five-0: Plan for Planting, noon Friday at the Nature Center. Learn how to attract birds and butterflies to your garden. For ages 50 and older.

* Avian Architects, 11 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Nature Center. See a display of bird nests and try to build your own the avian way.

* There's an App for That, noon Sunday at the Nature Center. Bring lunch and discuss your favorite nature apps with the nature attendant.

Inniswood Metro Gardens

940 Hempstead Road, Westerville

* Metro Five-0: Become a Citizen Scientist, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Innis House. Learn about citizen science and how can contribute to research close to home. No science knowledge needed. For ages 50 and older.

Scioto Audubon Metro Park

400 W. Whittier St., Columbus

* Audubon Afternoons: Invasives Beware!, 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, 505 W. Whittier St. Help remove invasive plants and replace them with native species.

Three Creeks Park

3860 Bixby Road, Groveport

* Neat Knots, 10 a.m. Saturday at the Confluence Trails bulletin board. Learn how to tie different knots for different purposes.

* Look Up to the Sky, 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Confluence Trails bulletin board. Take a tram ride through the park to look for turkey vultures, hawks and other high-flying birds

* Midweek Tram Ride, 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Confluence Trails bulletin board. Look for wildflowers and birds on a tram tour of the park.
