To the Editor:

This Labor Day weekend the men and women of Washington Township Firefighters Local 3036 hit the streets of Dublin in our annual Fill the Boot campaign.

The generosity of the citizens of Dublin, Washington Township, and those traveling through town over the weekend was evident in our final tally of $11,890.

We really want to thank our community for supporting us in this great campaign that 100 percent benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Washington Township firefighters also hosted another event for MDA, making the grand total of $41,000 raised this year.

The International Association of Fire Fighters has a very strong and long history of supporting the MDA with this being the 58th year of the Fill the Boot campaign.

The Washington Township administration and the city of Dublin have always backed our efforts, for which we are grateful.

We also would like to thank the Avery Road Kroger Co. store, Walgreens pharmacy and the Rusty Bucket restaurant for assisting the campaign with their support.

The majority of money raised from this endeavor appears in the form of $1 bills and loose change. Every little bit truly adds up and makes a difference.

Our Fill the Boot donation will provide 170 minutes of research or send 15 kids to summer camp.
