To the Editor:

As a small business owner, I have worked in the Hilliard and Upper Arlington areas since I began my electrical contracting business in 2002, after retiring from Worthington Industries' corporate engineering group.

I have known Maureen Reedy, Democratic candidate for the 24th Ohio House District, since 1985 as a teacher and friend. Maureen has always been passionate about serving others, looking out for other people in the way she took such care of her students. She won my loyalty when she made sure her grandmother got to church on Sunday.

Maureen and I share many values. I take great stock in keeping my commitments. I know Maureen is the same way: She has attended the township meetings of every township in her district, just to listen to what her future constituents' problems are.

I know the importance of listening to my clients. Maureen is always willing to listen to other points of view. She's had practice, testifying before the state legislature for setting policies to increase educational opportunities for children.

I value the hard work Maureen does. She has already made a great sacrifice: giving up her salary from her teaching career by taking a personal leave for the chance to make a difference for our community.

She's worked tirelessly to reach every voter since committing to run for this office. As a small business owner, I have to make sure I am fiscally responsible, and I know Maureen will do the same as she addresses funding schools and safety services of our communities.

I'm proud to support Maureen Reedy as our next state representative; we both believe we can face our community's problems best working not as Republicans or Democrats, but as concerned community members working together.
