Many responsible for success of Wyandot Run blood drive
To the Editor:
Wyandot Run Elementary School recently hosted its first Red Cross Blood Drive. It was a huge success! We collected 42 units of life-saving blood. We also collected a few more later at Liberty Fire Station. Thank you Liberty firemen. You are heroes!
Our blood drive was in honor of another hero. One of our third-grade students, Casey, is in Children's Hospital battling cancer.
Special thanks to Jersey Mike's Subs, Jet's Pizza and Raising Cane's for donating delicious food for our blood donors, volunteers and Red Cross workers.
The Red Cross did a fantastic job. They were all so professional and made everyone feel comfortable. We especially appreciated our Red Cross coordinator, Jennifer Clark, for helping us with all of the logistics.
Thank you to Cub Scout Pack 428 for passing out snacks and entertaining the children who came along with their parents.
We also really appreciate the amazing staff at Wyandot Run for their support. They volunteered by checking people in, bringing in snacks and giving blood. Two people deserving special recognition are Kara Bussard and Sarah Davlin for coordinating the food donations.
Most of all, we want to thank the people that came to give blood.
We were overwhelmed with the positive response and we are already planning another blood drive for next year.
