To the Editor:

I am wondering if the residents of Delaware County know of the most recent proposal for use of your hard-earned tax dollars?

I am a 40-year resident of East Powell Road and the traffic on our road, in early mornings and late afternoons, has increased a lot, with workers avoiding traveling on Polaris Parkway as much as possible. I can understand the need for a traffic light at Bale Kenyon Road and perhaps other roads entering and exiting East Powell Road. I am not so sure the road needs to be widened to three lanes, as proposed. And I for sure don't see a need for a bike path, which will bring road and path very close to our front doors.

I expect the road to eventually be commercial (and Columbus is already planning to annex one property, so that is a threat, too), so a bike path seems a waste of tax dollars.

There is also a proposal for a bridge over Route 23. In this age of driving everywhere, I am just curious: Who is wanting to walk across Route 23? Has anyone researched these proposals to know if they will really be used? No one has asked me if I would use a bike path and a bridge. If we have this many dollars to spend, it seems to me that they could be put to better use serving our citizens.

What are your thoughts about this use of your money?
