To the Editor:

On behalf of Bexley Women's Club, I want to thank all who contributed to the success of the recent Sixth Annual Bexley House & Garden Tour.

First and foremost are the owners of the 11 sites on the 2013 tour who graciously opened their homes and gardens. Grateful thanks is also extended to the generous sponsors and advertisers, the Bexley police and representatives from the city of Bexley, and the hundreds of community volunteers whose diligence, cheerfulness and generosity created a beautiful day in Bexley for all the people who attended the tour and preview party.

Following the tour, a former scholarship recipient wrote to the club:

"I received a Bexley Women's Club scholarship around 1974-75 and it helped enormously. Not only was the money important, but it just felt good to have my home community believe in me. It was much more personal than other scholarships I got.

"I've therefore supported the House & Garden Tour nearly every year now, as a way of giving back and also because I enjoy it immensely. ... the homes are full of clever ideas, beautiful decor, and as a portrait artist, I particularly enjoy seeing people's taste in art. When I drive past those addresses later on, I feel I've "met" that house. The Tour really embodies the very best of Bexley, the heart and soul of what this special little community is about. Long may it continue."

Bexley Women's Club is pleased to bring this special event to Bexley and we are grateful for the support to the BWC scholarship fund, which for more than 75 years has supported Bexley area college students.
