To the Editor:

The fifth annual Reynoldsburg Civil War Encampment and Re-enactment June 22 and 23 drew 350 re-enactors and over 5,000 spectators, making it one of the largest annual Civil War events in Ohio.

Re-enactors from Ohio and seven surrounding states put on a spectacular performance.

The program included three battles, an educational component with living history impressionists and musicians, a ladies tea, three surgeon demonstrations, two artillery demonstrations, a cavalry demonstration, two children's drills and battles, rifleman's competition and a military ball.

The two children's drills and battles drew 90 young re-enactors, accompanied by cheering parents.

Over 80 participants enjoyed the Ladies Tea and 100 couples danced to the music from the 1860s at the Military Ball. The music was provided by the 73rd OVI Regiment Band with Elizabeth Reeb serving as the dance mistress.

Community business and private individual contributions and sponsorships made this event possible.
