To the Editor:

Your readers may have seen the float in the Upper Arlington Fourth of July parade celebrating the work of Living Water International (LWI).

The lack of safe drinking water is the leading cause of death in the world. LWI is trying to eradicate that problem by drilling water wells and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ in developing countries. In the 23 years since LWI was founded, 11,266 communities now have access to safe, clean water.

A local group has funded 10 wells in Africa and Central America through LWI. Local mission teams have actually drilled three of these wells. As a matter of fact, a mission team is presently in a rural community in El Salvador drilling a well, teaching hygiene and well maintenance, and spreading God's love.

For more information, your readers can check out the Living Water International website, water.cc.

A local volunteer advocate can be reached at jlockwood@water.cc.
