Library plays large role in lifelong learning

To the Editor:

What makes Bexley a great place to live? A commitment to education and lifelong learning is the glue that keeps this wonderful community together. Bexley Public Library supports that commitment at every level -- from children learning to read their favorite picture books to older adults learning to read on their Ereaders.

Lifelong learning is extremely important to our entire family.

We have always been active users of the library, and the changes at the library over the past few years have invigorated all of us. We are proud of our library and our community; which is why we thought it was so important to help reestablish the Friends of Bexley Public Library in 2011. With the support of more than 300 members, the Friends have sponsored the library's successful Summer Reading Program, the Tea at Three music series, and staff training and development.

The library needs your support once again to ensure that its exceptional services continue to invigorate and engage our community. Issue 49 will be on our ballot this November. It will provide for a permanent 2.8-mill levy, while replacing the current 1.5-mill, five-year levy passed in 2009 that will expire in 2014. Residents will not pay for two levies in 2014.

Please join us in support of Issue 49 in the Nov. 5 election. For more information, go to supportyourbexleylibrary.org or email Anne Lewis, chair@supportyourbexleylibrary.org.

Help keep our Bexley Public Library strong and our community inspired. This is our commitment to the future.
