To the Editor:
On Nov. 5, Upper Arlington will select City Council members to lead our city through one of the most challenging financial times in our history.
Incumbent Councilman John C. Adams stands out among the candidates as uniquely qualified to provide the sound fiscal leadership to face these challenges.
John is a public finance professional with over 30 years of experience working with cities and school systems; his thorough understanding of the complexities of government finance will give our City Council the depth and breadth of knowledge needed to face the formidable task of balancing limited resources with maintaining the quality of life we all value so highly in Upper Arlington.
While John brings strong professional credentials to City Council, he as importantly brings integrity, ethics and strength of character. I have known John and considered him my friend for over 30 years. Even so, I'm sure that if John is elected to continue on council, I won't agree with him on every issue.
But I'll know that his decisions come from consideration of the facts and of all differing points of view. And that he will make the difficult choices, even if they are not the easy or popular ones.
As a third-generation resident of this community, I have a vested interest in keeping Upper Arlington's tradition of excellence alive for those who follow. One of the best ways I know to do that is to elect leaders that understand the importance of a strong, vibrant and healthy Upper Arlington.
John C. Adams is one of those leaders. I urge you to return him to city council on Nov. 5.
