Butcher has a great track record as city's leader

To the Editor:

I would like to commend your paper for the article about our Mayor Steve Butcher's induction to the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame.

Steve has done a great deal of good for our community since he as been elected mayor. The ThisWeek Licking County News article ("Butcher to be inducted in ceremony Nov. 7," Oct. 20, 2013) mentioned just a few.

I have lived in the Pataskala area for almost 40 years and have seen it grow and prosper more in the time of Mayor Butcher's tenure than all the other years combined.

Your article on Mayor Butcher reflects the type of leadership he has displayed since he has been in office.

In addition to his duties as mayor, he and his wife, Nancy, have raised a lot of funds for various community improvements. Through the family restaurant business, they have fed the veterans of our community free for many years.

City Council also is considering if the responsibilities of the mayor's office should be increased.

I hope the citizens of Pataskala vote for the incumbent mayor this November with his proven record and qualifications. Mayor Steve Butcher will meet these new challenges head on and continue to do a great job of leading the city.
