To the Editor:

The Upper Arlington Special Olympics organization hosted the annual Area 6 Special Olympics Ohio swim meet at Upper Arlington High School on Saturday, Nov. 9.

A total of 268 Special Olympics swimmers from central Ohio competed in the meet. Most of them competed in at least two events. They and their families had fun, experienced success and can now qualify for the state meet in December at the Ohio State University.

This would not be possible without the 150-plus volunteers who generously donated their time and energy to the many tasks of the meet, such as timing, recording, bullpen, awards, lifeguarding, concessions, among others.

On behalf of the Upper Arlington Special Olympics athletes and families, thank you to the following organizations, teams and clubs for supporting our efforts to host a successful swim meet:

* Upper Arlington Rotary members.

* Upper Arlington High School boys and girls swim team coaches and swimmers.

* Upper Arlington Special Olympics team parents, coaches and volunteers.

* St. Andrew eighth-grade students and Theresa Buoni, coordinator.

* Ohio State University men's and women's lacrosse team coaches and players.

* Ohio State University Special Olympics Club members.
