To the Editor:

On behalf of the Bexley Board of Education, I would like to thank our community for their support of the Permanent Improvement Fund levy. Your understanding of the importance of such a fund is no surprise to us as we continue to protect and improve our aging buildings for the future.

Despite the "no tax increase" to establish this PI Fund, we are aware that the taxes come from our neighbors anytime we ask for financial support. You can be assured that the board will require due diligence for any proposal to utilize this fund.

A special thank you goes to the levy campaign leadership team of Jeff Walker, Pam Hagely and Joe Armstrong -- they stepped up from the Community Finance Committee to run an efficient and low budget campaign that garnered a 70 percent 'yes' vote. They established the group Citizens for the Advancement of Students and Education, which states their goals as a political arm of the Finance Committee.

The success of all our students remains our primary goal as board members, but we are grateful the buildings over their heads will provide the academic and informal environment they need to learn.
