To the Editor:

In this season of thanks and celebration, all of us at the Worthington Resource Pantry want to extend a giant thank you to everyone who has contributed to helping our neighbors in need. We have been tremendously blessed by the outpouring of support from both volunteers and donors!

The WRP is a resource center that educates, feeds and comforts people who need a helping hand during rough times. We provide a choice food pantry for people who have an income equal to or less than 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. We offer a variety of food, including fresh produce and personal items. We provide information regarding help for job skills, homelessness, health clinics and more.

The WRP is also an umbrella organization for several other programs, including Drug Safe Worthington and Walk Worthington. Together, we play a vital role in creating and sustaining a Healthy Worthington.

Through contributors' generosity, we reached new milestones in 2016: provided 226,000 meals, served 1,500 households, aided 5,000 people, expanded hours of service and enrichment experiences like cooking and art classes and launched successful summer and winter break food bag programs to bridge the gap for students at risk of hunger.

However, our work is far from finished. This year, we served 20 percent more families than in 2015. We expect that we will experience an additional 20 percent increase in 2017.

The growth has been incredible, and it only continues as we break records for the number of families served each day.

Only your support makes it possible for us to meet the ever-increasing need.

At the WRP, our slogan is "Healthy Worthington, Hungry To Share." We are truly proud to be a part of a community that is so hungry to share with our neighbors. Thank you!
