To the Editor:

In mid-October, I started driving at night from Powell to Dublin and would like to say thank you to all the residents with fantastic Christmas light displays. I have really enjoyed them each night. I wish I could thank each decorator personally.

Even my neighborhood, Scioto Reserve, has been a joy to drive through. The festive red and white trees are glowing in many neighborhoods, and all the multicolored lights are so extra cheery.

Growing up living on Army bases, my parents frequently won outdoor Christmas-decorating contests. I did not inherit their talents, but I appreciate the planning time and the difficulty to put up uncooperative lights, often in frigid conditions. Your illuminations are very much enjoyed by this old lady, so I can imagine the joy of children seeing the lights.

When my two daughters were young, we'd drive through lots of neighborhoods where my girls would "grade" displays. What I've seen this year is more than I have seen in a very long time.

Thank you for adding extra joy to this Christmas season.
