Songwriting twin sisters Tegan and Sara will be playing 16 U.S. concert dates this fall before taking some time off to begin work on a new album.

The plucky Canadians have been touring non-stop this year, playing sold-out dates in the U.S., U.K., Europe, Australia and Canada in support of their fifth album - 2007's The Con. The duo recently completed a stint on Cyndi Lauper's True Colors tour, and will also be performing at San Francisco's Treasure Island Festival and Austin City Limits later this year.

After wrapping up their fall tour dates, Tegan and Sara will be taking a break from touring to focus on writing new material. According to a press release, the Quins will be taking a "well-deserved break to contemplate their next album." The Con boasted a guest appearance by Kaki King and Death Cab for Cutie's Chris Walla at the soundboards. Here's to hoping some more of the twins' musical friends will be making an appearance this time around.
