This week's Crime of the Week concerns an aggravated robbery that occurred July 3 in Gahanna.

At about 12:45 a.m. that day, a violent robbery occurred in the parking lot of the Kroger Marketplace, 300 S. Hamilton Road.

Having completed her shopping, a female customer walked to her car in the parking lot. A man approached as she got into the car and demanded that she give him her purse. When she resisted, he pulled out a knife and slashed her, cutting the woman's leg and puncturing her wrist. The man then pulled her from her car and took a glass of loose change.

He fled to the south. Surveillance video shows that he was in the general area for up to two hours before the robbery.

The suspect is described black with a light complexion, 5'9" to 5'11"in height and weighing 160-180 lbs. He is said to be in his late teens or early twenties, with light brown or auburn hair, freckles and light-colored eyes.

Crime Stoppers has posted a reward of up to $2,000 for information received by July 30 leading to the arrest and/or indictment of the person responsible for this crime.
