Evening Stroll, 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ash Grove Picnic Area. Take a 1.5-mile forest walk.

2009 Bird List Hike, 8 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, at the Nature Center. Search for the first birds of the year on a 1.5-mile, off-trail hike.

Blendon Woods Metro Park

Preschoolers: Birds, 1 p.m. Saturday at the Nature Center. Watch birds at the feeders and make a small feeder of your own.

Sunday Dog Trot, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Nature Center. Bring your canine friend for a 1.2-mile jaunt.

Coyote Howl, 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Nature Center. Hike two miles on the Sugarbush Trail and see if coyotes answer the area's noon tornado siren.

Highbanks Metro Park

Scavenger Hunt, noon-5 p.m. Saturday through Wednesday at the Nature Center. Stop by and pick up an activity list of things to do in the park. Once the list is completed, check back in for a prize.

Prairie Oaks Metro Park

3225 Plain City-Georgesville Road, West Jefferson

Winter Wandering, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Whispering Oaks Picnic Area. Hike off-trail through the prairie and wetlands in search of wildlife.

Nature Bingo, 2 p.m. Tuesday at Spring Hollow Lodge, 1069 W. Main St., for ages 6-12. Play a game of outdoor bingo and take a short walk, weather permitting.

Canal Winchester

Smoked, Salted, Pickled and Preserved, 1-3 p.m. Saturday. Learn how fruits, vegetables and meats were preserved in the days before artificial refrigeration.

Three Creeks Park

Winter Break, 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Heritage Nature Center, 551 Wirt Road, Groveport. Celebrate nature with stories, games and crafts.
