The University of Dayton Counselor Education and Human Services program will welcome leaders in the mental health profession during its professional development week, planned for Feb. 23-25 at Capital University.

The University of Dayton Counselor Education and Human Services program will welcome leaders in the mental health profession during its professional development week, planned for Feb. 23-25 at Capital University.

Headlining the event will be Ohio Supreme Court Justice Evelyn Stratton, who will detail her involvement in mental health advocacy. Her keynote address will be preceded by a lecture on suicide prevention by Kent State University professor Dr. Jason McClothlin.

Other events include a panel night featuring counselors from both the clinical and school settings, and career services information night.

The University of Dayton has offered classes at Capital for nearly 30 years.

Bexley High School's speech and debate team has had good showings at recent events.

At January's Middletown tournament, senior Rachel Tyroler placed second in original oratory, junior Jesse Vogle was fourth in original oratory and senior Adam Neubauer was fourth in international extemporaneous speaking. Junior Alex Lange ranked second in Lincoln Douglas debate and senior Richard Weisbach placed fifth.

Lange also earned fifth in Lincoln Douglas debate at December's Howland tournament.

The Ohio High School Speech League oversees four types of debate and nine types of individual events in competition for member schools.

Bexley High School's speech and debate team has 18 members this year.
