Wildlife Observation Night, 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Nature Center. Watch for nocturnal wildlife.

36th Annual Winter Hike Series, 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cherry Ridge Program Area. Take a two-, four- or six-mile hike along the trails, followed by soup and hot drinks.

Weeds and Seeds, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Nature Center. Wander the fields and learn to identify the remains of autumn's wildflowers by seed head and berries.

Preschoolers: Talk to the Animals, 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Nature Center. Play games and learn how animals use sounds to communicate.

36th Annual Winter Hike Series, 10 a.m. Sunday at the Springhouse Program Area. Take a 1.4- or two-mile hike along the trails. Hot food and drinks served afterward.

Off-Trail Exploration, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Honda Wetlands Education Area. Explore the hidden wetlands on a rugged three-mile hike.

Highbanks Metro Park

Naked Tree Hike, 1 p.m. Saturday at the Nature Center. Learn to identify trees by their barks, buds and branches.

Gathering of Canines, 5 p.m. Sunday at the Nature Center. Learn about the wolves, coyotes, foxes and dogs.

Annual Quilt Show, through Feb. 8 at the Innis House. Columbus Metropolitan Quilters will be on hand to discuss their work and answer questions from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Stroller Stroll, 10 a.m. Tuesday at the garden entrance. Tour the gardens in search of Ohio's winter birds.

Stories in the Snow, 1 p.m. Saturday at the Glacier Knoll Picnic Area. Learn the basics of tracking and trailing animals by following tracks in the mud and snow.

Hooting and Howling, 5 p.m. Saturday at the Glacier Knoll Picnic Area. Try to call in owls and coyotes on a one-mile walk through the fields.

Stars and Space, 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Prairie View Picnic Area. View the night sky with members of the Otterbein College Astronomy Department.

Winter Visitors, 11 a.m. Saturday at Darby Bend Lakes, 2755 Amity Road. Look for ducks and other visitors on a two-mile hike.

Slate Run Metro Park

Canal Winchester

Deer Watch, 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the farm entrance. Take a one-mile hike to look for deer in the surrounding farm fields.

Wildlife Walk, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Shady Grove Program Area. Search for deer, coyotes, birds and other animals on a 1.5-mile hike on the hilly trails.

Three Creeks Park

Firebuilding and Folklore, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Heritage Nature Center, 551 Wirt Road, Groveport. Build a fire using primitive fire-making tools. Share tales around the fire, or inside if the weather is bad
