Bexley Middle School students performed well on the 2009 National Latin Exam, achieving the highest percentage of winners in the history of the school's participation. More than half of the seventh-graders earned an award on the Introduction to Latin exam, and nearly half of the eighth-graders placed on the Latin I exam. The students are taught by teacher Kathy Pautsch.

Seventh-grade ribbon winners were Aky Locke, Eric Maxwell, Jocie Steinke, Emily Mosser, Elizabeth Heym, Rachel Arens and John Winters. Seventh grade certificate winners were Ben Jaffy, Regan Detwiler, Peter Banks, Nathan Katz, Emily Callahan, Alexandra Maher, Maddie Copp and Sam Shamhart.

Eighth-grade gold medal winners were Elizabeth Maher, Peter Kirschner, Arye Smith and Daniel Peck. Eighth-grade silver medal winners were Colin Young, Daniel Krajnak, Andrew Ours and Tom Krajnak.

Eighth-grade certificate winners were Nick Ellison, Ben Hanes and Nan Boyle.

Meanwhile, at Bexley High School, the student newspaper "The Torch" is one of only three Ohio high school newspapers to receive the All-Ohio award. This award is the highest possible award from the Ohio Scholastic Media Association.

In addition, 32 members of the staff received 62 individual awards.
