Booker Prize-winning author A.S. Byatt will speak at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, in Mees Hall, College and Main.

Byatt is this year's speaker for the Gerhold Annual Lecture in the Humanities. The event is free and open to the public.

Dame Antonia Susan Byatt is internationally known for her novels and short stories, including her most recent novel, "The Children's Book," which has been short-listed for the 2009 Booker Prize for Fiction.

Byatt received the Booker Prize in 1990 for "Possession."
