Bexley City School District Treasurer Chris Essman announced Wednesday that the board of education has called a special meeting for 8:45 a.m. Monday, July 4, in the Maryland Avenue Elementary School Library, 2754 Maryland Avenue.

The purpose of the rare holiday meetings is listed as "to discuss personnel matters and any other matters that may properly come before the board."
"The item is to hire a teacher at Montrose elementary school," he said.

"The ORC states that if a teacher resigns after July 10 the District does not have to release the teacher. The person being hired is under contract at another district and has to notify them before 7/10/11 if she wants to leave. The meeting on July 4 is easy since the board will be gathering at Maryland to ride in the parade."

He added the meeting " should take one minute."
