Starting today (Thursday, Sept. 1), the Bexley City School District will unveil new features on its website.

Through the site, BexleySchools.org, parents will have better access to classroom assignments, student PowerSchool information and a more comprehensive school calendar. Visitors to the site can also subscribe to RSS feeds to receive calendar updates immediately without going to the website.

"Our new website provider, SchoolWires, offers a better product than the one we have been using, at a savings of up to $1,000 per year," said Paul Ross, school district technology director.

District staff has been receiving training on the new system since early August, along with training on Sakai, the collaborative learning environment for students and teachers.

Ross said there's some overlap between the two, but both will be useful for communicating with all of the audiences of the school district. Parents, staff and students will access the updated site with the same IDs and logins that they have been using.
