He finished second overall in the Nov. 8 Bexley City Council election, but Tim Madison was an easy winner when it came to campaign fundraising.

According to campaign finance reports filed with the Franklin County Board of Elections, Madison raised more than $23,538, approximately $10,000 more than his closest competitor.

Ben Kessler, Madison, Stephen Keyes and Mark Masser won seats on city council in the Nov. 8 election. Jan Zupnick finished last in the five-candidate race for four open council positions.

Madison reported total contributions of $23,538. Keyes, who finished third, was a distant second in fundraising, reporting total contributions of $13,060.

Despite finishing last, Zupnick reported total contributions of $3,770.21.

Masser, the senior member of council, funded his entire campaign himself with no contributions from outside sources. According to campaign finance reports, Masser personally made four contributions to his own campaign totaling $3,429.62.

Kessler, the top vote-getter in the election, reported $2,170.39 in total funds available.

In his post-general election report, filed Nov. 27, Madison listed $23,528 in total monetary contributions, expenditures of $8,741.49 and a balance on hand of $14,796.51.
