Want to pitch your tent one more time before the temperatures plunge?
Bexley's Recreation and Parks Department is sponsoring a Bexley Family Community Campout from 5 p.m. Oct. 5 to 11 a.m. Oct. 6 at the Jeffrey Park Meadow behind the Jeffrey Mansion, 165 N. Parkview Ave.
"Families need to bring their tent and additional camping supplies," said Mike Price, recreation and parks director. "We will take care of dinner (a cookout), s'mores, water and breakfast (pancakes)."
Price said activities will include: camp fires, a movie at night, yard activities (cornhole, volleyball, soccer), roasting marshmallows and a hike/scavenger hunt on Saturday morning.
Boy Scout Troop 166 will assist in hosting the community campout.
"The Bexley Family Community Campout is a great opportunity for young families to introduce their kids to camping without many of the hassles," Price said. "Families won't have to pack up the cooler and prepare the food as dinner and breakfast will be provided. There will be activities for families to get involved in including a movie at night, yard games, and a scavenger hunt hike through the woods.
"Families can enjoy all that comes with camping in the amazing and local setting of the Jeffrey Park, with family friends and fellow community members," he said.
The cost of the event is $40. Advance registration is required. To register online, visit the city website, bexley.org, or stop by the Recreation and Parks Department office in the Jeffrey Mansion.
