Applicants invited to seek 2013 grants
The Bexley Community Foundation has announced the schedules and deadlines for its 2013 grants cycle.
Applications are available online at bexleycommunityfoundation.org for small grants, major grants and youth and recreation grants.
Small grants are limited to projects with a cost of no more than $5,000. Nonprofit organizations and associations, educational institutions and government entities may apply. The deadline for submission of a small grant request is Feb. 1, 2013.
One of the six 2012 small grants awarded was to the Bexley Police Department for the Bexley Safety Town collaborative project with Bexley City Schools. This initiative received $2,520.
Major grant applications are all other innovative and collaborative Bexley projects with requests of more than $5,000. The deadline for submitting a major grant application is April 26, 2013.
Two of the major grant winners in 2012 were for the Friends of the Drexel's project to upgrade the theater's digital cinematography and the Bexley Chautauqua, a large collaborative being led by Capital University to be held July 16-20, 2013. These two projects received a combined total of $45,000 of the total $99,000 awarded for major grants.
The newly created Youth and Recreation Fund Committee is in its inaugural year of grant-giving and will focus on supporting organizations, programs and initiatives enriching the lives of Bexley's youth through physical, creative and cultural activities.
Youth and recreation grant applications must be received by the Bexley Community Foundation on or before Feb. 1, 2013. Approved grants will be announced in May.
