Bexley High School's fledgling Robotics Team took the Rookie All-Stars award at the Queen City Regional FIRST Robotics Competition held March 21-23 at Xavier University in Cincinnati.
* Bexley High School's fledgling Robotics Team took the Rookie All-Stars award at the Queen City Regional FIRST Robotics Competition held March 21-23 at Xavier University in Cincinnati.
The team, led by first-year BHS teacher and adviser Brian Davis, took on the challenge of building a robot in six weeks with support from the Bexley Education Foundation.
Winning the award qualified the team for the World Championship competition, to be held April 25-27 in St. Louis.
Bexley team members are: Jason Adkin (captain), Joshua Adkin (driver), Kyle Adkin (lead programmer), Freddy Gu and Ian Foreman (vision system), Ben Hanes (pit chief), Micah Linger (feeder), Christian Adkin (feeder sub), Elizabeth Heym and Emma Murphy (scouts), as well as Peter Kirschner, Dylan Hardy, Evan Gutter, Gauthier Knox-Kelly, Liz Williams, Joe Schopick, Howard Wang, Emily Reed, Adam Soll, Ellie Williams, Davis Williams and Jack Simpson.
* Bexley High School students Frank Ditullio, Aaron Hutchison and Ben Kanas recently brought home the runner-up trophy from the Ohio High School Championships of the United State Fencing Association.
* Bexley Middle School's Black History month activities included a poster and video contest, letting student artists express their views about the courage of African American civil rights pioneers.
Winners of the 2013 poster contest are: first place, Mia Cariello for "One Voice Can Give Courage to Thousands"; second place, Mia Flora; and third, Zara Schopick. Video contest winners are Samantha Katz, Antonia Speranza and Kaija Price.
