Gallery Players and New Players Theater will present the Columbus premiere of Matthew Lopez's The Whipping Man, a recent off-Broadway success, May 4-12 in the Roth-Resler Theatre of the Jewish Community Center, 1125 College Ave.

With themes raising questions about race, history, family and war, the play conveys the story of Jewish Americans in the Confederacy after the Civil War.

Performances are at 8 p.m. May 4 and 11; 2:30 p.m. May 5 and 12; 7:30 p.m. May 9; and 10 a.m. May 10.

Tickets are $20 for the general public, $15 for JCC members, $18 for non-member seniors, $13 for JCC member seniors, $10 for students, and $10 per ticket for groups of 10 or more.
