College notes

* Colin Zidar, a 2009 graduate of Bexley High School, has graduated at the top of his ROTC class at Cincinnati's Xavier University with a 3.87 grade point average.

Zidar, who majored in criminal justice with a minor in psychology, has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and will continue his training as a military intelligence officer at Fort Huachuca in Sierra Vista, Ariz. He finished in the top 10 percent of roughly 5,500 ROTC cadets nationwide. He will be a Gold Bar Recruiter at Xavier, Miami and Northern Kentucky universities from June through September before moving to Arizona.

* Matt Cavallero graduated magna cum laude with honors this spring from the University of Akron University with a degree in nursing and a 3.7 GPA.

Cavallero is the president of the nursing fraternity at Akron, having received an award as "Fraternity President of the Year" and the Dr. Vukovich Award recognizing outstanding leadership and service.

Cavallero is a 2009 graduate of Bexley High School.
