More than 200 volunteers from the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, the Harmony Project, the McDonald's Foundation and non-profit KaBOOM! recently came together to complete a play space at Fairwood Park. Planning began at a Design Day event held in March when local children and community leaders met with organizers to conceive their dream playground. The children's drawings were then used to create the final playground design. The 2,500-square-foot playground was completed in less than eight hours. The playground is the eighth of 12 playgrounds scheduled to be built by mid-2013 as part of a new partnership between the McDonald's Foundation and KaBOOM!, which has a vision of providing a place to play within walking distance of every child in America.
