Diabetes screenings set this month
The Diabetes Prevention and Control Alliance (DPCA) and the YMCA of the USA (Y-USA), as sponsors of "Seniors Tell Diabetes Not Me" week, will host several free diabetes prevention awareness events at no additional cost to Medicare Parts A & B beneficiaries between June 17 and 22.
At the screenings, DPCA and Y staff will evaluate seniors' risk of developing type 2 diabetes, discuss the availability of the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program in their community, and enroll qualifying participants.
Seniors must receive Medicare Parts A & B and have a prediabetes qualifying blood glucose test result to qualify for the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program at no additional cost.
Diabetes screenings will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 19, and from1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Kroger store at 2000 E. Main St., Columbus.
