Bexley Public Library programs

Upcoming programs and events at the Bexley Public Library, 2411 E. Main St., are listed below.

The library is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 614-231-2793 or visit bexleylibrary.org.

STAR READER BOOK CLUB

Children in grades K-3 are invited to the Star Reader Book Club from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday, July 8. Read Story Book Classics by Roberto Piumini then make a picture book using his style.

MOTHER/DAUGHTER BOOK CLUB

The next Mother/Daughter Club for adults and youth in grades 3-6 will be held 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 10. Read a book selected by the group, and then attend book club where participants will write trivia to challenge friends and share conversations about the story.

MAGIC SHOW

Join Jim Kleefeld from 3 to 4 p.m. July 11, for a magic show about books, dirt, tunnels, bulldozers, moles, miners and all kinds of digging. Youth of all ages are invited.

FARMERS' MARKET BOOK CLUB

Visit the Bexley Farmers' Market from 5 to 6 p.m. July 11, for a book club dedicated to political and personal explorations of food. The market is located at the corner of Parkview Avenue and Main Street. Topics include: July 11, Tomatoland by Barry Estabrook; Aug. 8, Farm City by Novella Carpenter.

PILOT JERRIE MOCK

Susan Reid will share details about former Bexley resident Jerrie Mock, the first woman to fly solo around the world, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at the library. This program is for all ages.

BLOGGING BASICS

Attend a Blogging Basics at the library from 2 to 3 p.m. July 13, and learn how to set up a free blog account using WordPress, how to post pictures and how to publicize the blog. Registration is required by calling the library.

TURTLE LADY

Discover the world of turtles, bearded dragons and amphibians of many kinds with The Turtle Lady from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 17.

TEEN MOVIE NIGHT

Teens are invited to watch Cowboys and Aliens on the big screen at 7 p.m. July 15, in the auditorium. The library will have popcorn and refreshments. Bring blankets and pillows. Movie is PG-13, with a suggested audience of 13 years and older.
