The Bexley Board of Health is reminding residents to follow the city's animal control ordinances.

Dogs, cats and other domestic animals are prohibited to run at large on public property, including sidewalks, right of ways, streets or someone's property. Animals must be kept on a leash, cord, chain or tether.

Proper disposal of animal waste is not only a courtesy but also is required by ordinance in Bexley. Pet owners must always pick up and properly dispose of any waste left by their animal on all public or private property.

Dogs are required to be licensed through the Franklin County Auditor's Office.

All animal bites should be reported to Franklin County Public Health at 614-525-3160.

Failure to comply with the Bexley Animal Control Ordinances can result in a citation and fine. For more information, contact Amy Jennings, animal control, at the Bexley Police Department 614-559-4475.
