Readers can learn how to find their next great read even when the library is closed in a program from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3. Learn about various online resources, and how to create a Goodreads account. Registration is required by calling the library.

RAW DOG

SCREAMING PRESS

Join Raw Dog Screaming Press and Dog Star Books at the library from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, for an afternoon of readings from a group of their science fiction and horror authors and poets. Suspense, steampunk and sinister stories are on the schedule.

This event is recommended for an adult audience.

THE SECRET

GARDEN

The Hampstead Stage Company, a traveling acting troupe, will perform a family-friendly version of The Secret Garden at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6.

The story of a young orphan girl, Mary Lennox, who brings love back to her family after finding a secret garden is based on the book by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

WORD 101

A primer on Microsoft Word 2010 will be offered from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6. Registration is required by calling the library.

FARMERS' MARKET BOOK CLUB

Guests are invited to join the library at the Bexley Farmers' Market for a book club dedicated to the political and personal explorations of food. The Bexley Farmers Market is located at the corner of Parkview Avenue and Main Street. On Thursday, Aug. 8 from 5 to 6 p.m., discussion will focus on Farm City by Novella Carpenter.
