55 Plus Resource Expo, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 27, at Jeffrey Mansion, 165 N. Parkview Ave. Participants will receive a free lunch while getting the latest on area programs, services and activities specially designed for active adults aged 55 and over. Bexley Mayor Ben Kessler and Whitehall Mayor Kim Maggard will be cooking burgers on the grill from 11 a.m. to noon. Other features include live music, informational exhibits, vendor booths, door prizes and demonstrations of current exercise trends, art by local artists and ballroom dancing. This event is jointly sponsored by the Bexley Activities Club, Edwards Funeral Service and Wexner Heritage Village. There is no fee.

LoveYourAlley Alley Competition, 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 28. The city's second LoveYourAlley contest will have a panel of judges walking Bexley's alleys to award a prize for the best alley block, as well as a best individual property prize. Judges will be looking for clean, well-kept alley frontages; organized trash receptacles that have their lids on; no weeds; trees and bushes that are trimmed back so as not to impede visibility or traffic down the alley; paint that isn't peeling or chipping; well-kept fences and retaining walls; and, as a bonus, attractive landscaping.

Bexley Volleyball Athletes, Zumba for the Cure class fundraiser, 10 a.m. Sept. 28, in the Bexley High School gymnasium, 326 S. Cassingham Road. Cost is $5, with proceeds going to efforts to fight breast cancer. For details, contact Ed Cruz at 252-626-5490.

AARP Foundation Senior Community Service Employment Program assists unemployed Franklin, Delaware and Licking county workers age 55 and over with securing employment.
