Key Club plans book fair Nov. 16

Tuesday November 12, 2013 4:02 PM

Key Club members at Bexley High School are planning a Book Fair at Barnes and Noble Easton, during regular store hours of 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Nov. 16, at 4005 Townsfair Way.

In addition to encouraging purchases that day, club members invite children for story times and face painting activities. Customers wishing to support the club can bring a voucher, available as a download at BexleySchools.org, to any Barnes and Noble store on the day of the fair or shop online at BN.COM/bookfairs through Nov. 21.

A portion of sales for that day will toward the purchase of books for donation to Bexley's Developmental Assets Resource Network.

The group's effort in November 2012 raised some $500 to purchase books at holiday time. The club then worked with DARN and school counselors to place the books in the hands of students and families in need. In addition to getting new books for younger children, the group also bought box sets of books and books for older kids.

Sponsored by Kiwanis International, Key Club is an international student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership, according to KeyClub.org.
