Shop Hop

Purchases from event have a purpose

The 2013 Bexley Shop Hop will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Jeffrey Mansion, 165 N. Parkview Ave.

The Shop Hop features a variety of merchandise from local vendors, with proceeds benefiting the Development Assets Resources Network. The program provides assistance to children and families in need, including scholarships to attend camp, school supplies, clothes, furniture, and food and gift cards during the holidays.

"We try to find ways to help kids," said Barb Greiner, Bexley Recreation and Parks Department supervisor.

"Our goal is to even the playing field for kids in Bexley. People want to live here because of the school system, but sometimes that really stretches them."

Vendors scheduled to take part in the Shop Hop range from Sweet Thing Gourmet to Pinney Kelly Paper. Patrons can peruse artwork, home furnishings, jewelry, clothing and antiques.

"We're going to have various vendors from around central Ohio," Greiner said.

The Shop Hop attracts hundreds of people each year, Greiner said.

"It's become somewhat of a tradition," she said.

Tickets are $5 at the door. For more information, visit Bexleyshophop.com.
