The lobby and circulation areas at Bexley Public Library are set to undergo a renovation this month thanks to a donation from the estate of Marilyn K. Limbird.
The renovation will help to prepare the library for its transition to the Central Library Consortium. Included in the changes are self-serve reserve pickup, more self-checkout stations, a larger New Books space, additional security, a reconfigured book return area and a new circulation desk.
Most of the work will be accomplished Monday, March 17, through Friday, March 28. The library will keep its regular hours during the renovation.
Bexley Public Library will become a full member of the Central Library Consortium on April 9. The resource-sharing partnership with 14 other central Ohio libraries will give Bexley library patrons the ability to reserve any of the 4.5 million items owned by member libraries and have the items delivered to Bexley for pick-up.
The transition to the consortium will necessitate some changes that will affect library users. Patrons who have saved their check-out history in the current catalog system will need to print the list of items prior to April 1, as these lists will not transfer to the new catalog. Library staff will print this list free of charge on request.
Patrons also will be unable to reserve materials between March 20 and April 9 in preparation for the new system.
