Bexley: Three would-be burglars fail to enter residences

Bexley police said a resident in the 2600 block of Bellwood Avenue reported someone attempted to gain access to her home by lifting a first-floor window on April 7.

The person could not fully open the window because it was latched from the inside. The suspect also tried to gain entry by breaking a basement window, but was prevented from entering by bars on the inside, reports stated.

A resident in the 2400 block of Fair Avenue reported someone tried unsuccessfully to enter his residence by pushing in one of the screen panels on the screened-in porch between March 27 and April 8.

Residents in the 2700 block of Powell Avenue reported someone cut the screen on a first-floor window April 7 and also tried to pry open three other first-floor windows as well as a window located on the rear of the porch. The suspect was not able to gain entry.

In other recent incident reports from the Bexley Police Department:

* The property manager for the Bexley Village Apartments, 839 Sheridan Ave., reported that on April 1, someone attempted to break into a vending machine in the laundry room. The front panel of the machine had been pried back, however, the person did not gain access to the soda or coins located inside.

* A resident in the 700 block of Sheridan Avenue reported someone broke the rear window of her car on April 4. Nothing was reported missing.
