On the move

* Tom McDermott of Delaware recently was named chief financial officer for Wexner Heritage Village.

Most recently, McDermott served for six years as CFO of Fayette County Memorial Hospital in Washington Court House. Before that he was president and chief operating officer of several firms specializing in accounting and information technology specifically for healthcare organizations. He earned his bachelor's degree in accounting, with a minor in business administration, from Western Michigan University.

McDermott succeeds David Driver, who left WHV after 12 years as CFO to pursue other career interests.

* Alexandra T. Schimmer of Bexley has been reappointed to the State Board of Uniform State Laws for a term beginning June 26, 2014, and ending June 5, 2019.

* Central Ohio educator Steve Shapiro was selected as one of 72 K-12 educators for Teachers for Global Classrooms, an international exchange program sponsored by the U.S. State Department. Shapiro was chosen to spend three weeks in the Philippines, meeting with national education leaders, visiting schools and making presentations to students and teachers.

Shapiro is the program director of Mosaic, a humanities program serving global-minded juniors and seniors from public schools in Franklin County.
