Former judge to speak at Agudas Achim Sept. 7

Congregation Agudas Achim and Columbus Hadassah, with support of the Columbus Bar Association, will host Women in the Workplace: Past, Present and Future, at 11 a.m. Sept. 7 at Congregation Agudas Achim, 2767 E. Broad St., Bexley.

The event is being held in memory of Agudas Achim member and Columbus Hadassah life member Ruth Freed, a Columbus attorney who helped pave the way for women in the legal field and for women everywhere who have struggled for workplace equality.

Guest speaker is the former Judge Marianna Bettman, whose topic will be "Putting a Tiny Crack in the Glass Ceiling." Bettman has taught at the University of Cincinnati's College of Law since 1999, when she left her judgeship on the Ohio First District Court of Appeals. Bettman became the first woman elected to the Ohio First District Court of Appeals in 1992.

Cost for the event is $10 per person which includes a light brunch.
