An exhibit at the Art Access Gallery, 540 S. Drexel Ave., is giving additional exposure to works from the Goodwill Art Studio and Gallery.

The art studio and gallery are part of a program of Goodwill Columbus, which has served central Ohio since 1939 by providing training, jobs and support services to people with disabilities. The art studio and gallery are housed at Goodwill's offices at 1331 Edgehill Road near Grandview, and the Art Access exhibit will help the program gain exposure, said Debbie Griffing, who manages the program.

"We're always looking for places to our show our work," Griffing said. "We have a wonderful gallery here at Goodwill, but we want to expand out to more people and reach a bigger audience."

With its central location in the heart of Bexley, Art Access offers a prime venue for the artists in the Goodwill program to display their work, Griffing said.

"We've shown in nonprofit spaces like the Columbus library and the Urban Arts Space, but we've never been in a for-profit gallery that specializes in selling art," she said. "We had done some research and felt like (Art Access) was a good fit for us."

The works on display at Art Access range from large paintings that cover most of a wall to painted lampshades, with prices that run the gamut as well.

"They're in a price range that everybody can afford," said Barb Unverferth, Art Access co-proprietor. "You can get great, original art for as little as $80."

Proceeds from works sold through the exhibit will further Goodwill Art Studio & Gallery's mission of helping people with disabilities express themselves through art, Griffing said.

"The work that we produce in the studio here is often kind of the 'outsider' art, folk art kind of genre," she said. "We have a lot of people with different abilities."

The Goodwill exhibit will be on view through April 4 at Art Access. For exhibit hours and more information, visit artaccessgallery.com.
