The Bexley Education Foundation and the Bexley High School Alumni Association have merged under the BEF umbrella.

The Bexley Education Foundation and the Bexley High School Alumni Association have merged under the BEF umbrella.

The foundation will manage the operations of the BHSAA, with increased alumni representation on the foundation's Board of Governors and leadership provided by the Alumni Relations Committee of the board.

"The BHSAA and the BEF are better together, marshaling financial and personnel resources, with a shared passion to be a national leader among education foundations and alumni associations that support public schools," said Larry Pliskin, president of the BHSAA from 2011-15, and BEF Board of Governors Chairman G. Preston Elliott in a joint press release statement.

Under the new agreement, BHSAA membership dues have been eliminated and membership in the organization is automatic upon graduation from Bexley High School.

The foundation will maintain an updated database of all BHS alumni for purposes of communication, reunion planning and fundraising.

The BEF staff will oversee alumni communications and events and will support reunion planning from its office at Bexley High School near the Lion Lobby. Alumni are encouraged to donate to the new Lions' Pride Fund as well as continue to support the annual Alumni Scholarships.

The foundation is working with Harris Connect to produce a Bexley alumni directory, scheduled for publication in 2016. In the coming months, alumni will receive postcards, emails or phone calls from Harris Connect asking for updated contact information. Information provided will be used only for purposes of the directory and will be returned to the foundation so that its alumni database remains current.
