This year's BRAVO! event, which is the Bexley Education Foundation's largest annual fundraiser, will focus on the foundation's recent merger with the Bexley High School Alumni Association.

The event will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at St. Charles Preparatory School, 2010 E. Broad St.

BRAVO! raises funds to support education foundation programs that promote educational excellence in Bexley City Schools. This year's BRAVO! theme is "Back to the Future," which celebrates the BEF and the alumni association joining forces to preserve Bexley's history and to create new learning opportunities for students, according to BEF Executive Director Pamela Glasgow.

The merger gives the alumni association "the resources of the Bexley Education Foundation," she said. "We have really strong similarities in our missions. The merger makes both of our organizations stronger."

The BRAVO! silent auction will feature a wide range of donated items, including dining packages, spa services, golf outings, tickets to sporting events, and goods and services from local businesses.

Items up for bid include a football signed by Ohio State University football coach Urban Meyer, a children's party with HomeSchool Gym founder Coach Chris, a chance to fly a trained raptor from the winner's arm, and an original Bexley street sign.

The centerpiece of the auction will be 150 pieces of art created by local children, Glasgow said.

"We'll have what we call the heart of BRAVO!, which is the children's art," she said. "Students at the Bexley schools make art to be auctioned off."

BRAVO! will also feature tasting stations from 15 local restaurants and caterers, a cash bar and photo opportunities with the Bexley Lion.

In 2015, BRAVO! raised more than $123,000 for the foundation, Glasgow said. The foundation has distributed more than $4.4 million in grants to Bexley schools to date, she said.

"The funds raised through BRAVO! really help us with the grants we provide to the schools," Glasgow said.
