Bexley High School senior Jaxon Sher has signed a letter of intent to play football at Butler University in Indianapolis.
“I’m extremely blessed to have this opportunity and I’m looking forward to playing the game I love … while getting an excellent education,” said Sher, an offensive guard. “I’m looking forward to contributing in the future and hopefully winning several (Pioneer Football League) championships.”
Butler is part of the NCAA’s Football Championship Subdivision, which will offer an automatic postseason bid to the PFL champion beginning next season.
Sher was first-team all-MSL-Ohio Division last fall. He also was second-team all-district in Division II and named Bexley’s Most Valuable Player on offense.
“Jaxon meant a lot to our football team,” coach John Smith said. “He really started this process at the end of his junior season. He came into the offseason with a tremendous attitude and mindset. He worked extremely hard in the weight room to prepare for the season.
“Once the season started, he gave great effort all the time in practice and games. (He) was a very dominant player on the line.”
