CSG finishes ninth in state

The Columbus School for Girls cross country team scored 216 points to finish ninth of 16 teams in the Division III state meet Nov. 2 at National Trail Raceway behind champion Liberty Center (98).

Sophomore Eleanor Smith (17th, 19 minutes, 32.21 seconds) led the Unicorns, followed by freshman Meg Murakami (65th, 20:22.46), senior Emma Harris (76th, 20:33.41), freshman Grace Tierney (80th, 20:40.11), freshman Anna Tierney (84th, 20:49.08), senior Erin Balasky (139th, 22:59.62) and sophomore Maya Allen (140th, 23:07.84).

Brittany Atkinson of Liberty Center won the individual title in 18:31.45 and Julia Rizk of Columbus Academy had the best finish (third, 18:48.61) among area competitors.
