The Canal Winchester Area Historical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the Hockman Meeting Room at the O.P. Chaney Elevator, located at the corner of North High and Oak streets in Canal Winchester.

George Elsass, president of the Ohio Tool Collectors Association, will present a program entitled "Tools That Help Build America."

Elsass will display part of his collection of primitive tools, which includes a chisel axe dating to 1675 and others dating to the 1790s. Meetings are open to the public.

Canal Winchester Local Schools will hold new student registration during the first three weeks of August.

Registration for all new students in kindergarten through grade 12 will be held from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. daily Monday through Thursday, Aug. 4-7, Aug. 11-14 and Aug. 18-21, at the Education Center, 100 Washington St.

Kindergarten students must be 5 years old before Aug. 1.

Parents or guardians must provide the following information when registering students: original birth certificate, child's Social Security number, immunization records, a residence verification document and custody papers, if applicable.
